Anti-Establishment Phone
Anti-Establishment Phone
Posted by tokipoki 09/17/2008
You may sometimes feel like taking a break from all that continuous pioneering. Hearken back to a simpler time with the firmly-rooted-in-yesterday YUBZ TALK mobile phone receiver.

The sturdy, classic handset, with a spiral cord that plugs directly into your cell phone (unless your specific model requires an adapter), might initially remind you of Grandmother's house, but there are some practical qualities worth considering.

Inching along in the 405 traffic, you'll feel superior as your hands-free relic nestles comfortably in your shoulder—while the frazzled agent trainee in the next lane accidentally drops his skinny iPhone into his triple soy latte. At your next power-lunch round table, when everyone else thinks their ("new") phone is the one doing the ringing, you'll be the one who breezily puts out a fire back at the office with unexpected flair.

Phelps ain't got nothing on the Lunocet Monofin
Phelps ain't got nothing on the Lunocet Monofin
Posted by BraHe 09/11/2008
The Ciamillo Lunocet is a 42-inch carbon-fiber monofin that acts much like a dolphin tail. When strapped to feet, it increases surface area and moves on a pivot to produce thrust on both up and down movements when kicking. Wrapped in silicone, the fin moves quickly through the water with less drag and, although it weighs 2.5 lbs on land, it is completely buoyant in water.

The founders claim it can help swimmers reach speeds of up to 8mph, and that you can even propel yourself out of the water, much like a dolphin.

Get your finger scooting skills down. Everything you do on the iPhone is done by tapping or touching across the screen. It's a great phone, video screen is larger than anything previously designed which is great for watching Youtube - which you can do on this phone. And you actually see real web pages - not dumbed down mobile versions - that you can zoom in and out of to view different sections. Of course there's email, texting and everything - really EVERYTHING - else. Far too much to mention here. If you don't believe me, stop by and Apple store and play with one - assuming you can pull one away from the other customers.

The all-knowing internet search engine has introduced Google SMS, an information service that works through text messaging on your cell phone, acting as 411, movie timetable, stock ticker, and even a dictionary. For phone numbers and addrersses, send a message to GOOGL (46645) with the name of the person or place followed by a zip-code – for example, “Gansevoort Hotel 10014.” Within seconds, beep! – a text message arrives with the information.

We’re as in love with this frightfully modern world as ever, but that doesn’t mean we don’t occasionally long for a simplier time, a time before MySpace, cell phones and Kevin Federline ruined everything. The folks at Speck Products understand our pain. Connect any MP3 player to their SpeckTone Retro speaker system and you’ll get big sound with a design aesthetic even your grandma could dig on. The little number belts out 28 watts’ worth of audio, has a built-in subwoofer and comes in three colors of high-gloss piano-finish wood.

The small screen on our portable device can sometimes prove frustrating and eye numbing. If Texas Instruments has their way, we’ll all be ‘gorilla projection artists’ and no longer will we all attempt to huddle around small handheld device in hopes of catching a glimpse of ‘Sasquatch’ in the wild. Apparently at this year’s CTIA Wireless 2007 show, Texas Instruments showed off its mini DLP projector, called the Pico; small enough to fit in a cell phone. According to TI the projector will display in DVD quality and is composed of a DLP, 3 lasers, and a power supply.

You know what they say about good things and small packages. But when something 1.62 inches long and about half an ounce holds up to 240 songs, “good” and “small” don’t cut it. Especially when you can listen to your music for up to 12 continuous hours. In fact, iPod shuffle just may be the biggest thing in small. In five brilliant colors.
